Hi Oma,
Mama says you're still sick and we should do stuff to try to entertain you. I offered one of my teething rings for you to chew on, but Mama said a letter might be better.
Today it is snowing in Utah. Again. We're supposed to get 4-8 inches. That might be taller than me! Daddy says maybe Tante Ingrid and Uncle Nat could find some nice winter property for us in Minnesota.
Katie is outside in the snow barking at Goliath, the horse who lives behind us. Mama says that dog is D-U-M dumb.
Boo went outside today too. Mama called him a "dumkopf," which I think is German for "kitty cat who is not too bright." I like Boo, though. He sleeps in my pack-and-play. I like to grab his fur and make noises at him.
Today I have a bad diaper rash. Maybe from the new oatmeal cereal? I'm all red and I even have a little blister. I probably don't need to tell you, but a blistered bum is no fun. I get to wear disposables today and I get slathered in Baby Bee ointment at every change. I don't know what "slathered" means, but it sounds like fun!
Mama and Daddy are cleaning because Miss Mirjam and Reverend Daniel are coming over for dinner tonight. Since Mama was cleaning, Sabrina decided to pee on the floor in the playroom. Mama asked why the accident happened, and Sabrina said because she didn't feel like going to the potty.
That little girl needs to learn to lie better. She didn't even bother to ask Mama if she was mad. Probably because even I knew the answer to that one.
Well, I'm going to go chew on some stuffed birds now. I hope you feel better soon!
Love,
Linnie Lou

Dr. Livingstone, I presume?
Dear Oma,
Mama says you liked my letter from yesterday and that you are still sick, so I thought maybe a letter today would be good.
Big news! I ate oatmeal cereal today! Tastes like . . . rice cereal. Sabrina says it's better with a little brown sugar on it. Maybe we could try that when you come visit?
Mama finished the playroom yesterday and it looks very nice. At least it did until Sabrina woke up. Mama found all the toys that had been boxed away forever and put them on the new shelves, so now Sabrina is like an ADD kid in a candy store. She barely plays with one toy before running off to get another. Mama follows her around, telling her to put her toys away before she gets out more toys and books. Silly Mama. She should just do some of those deep-breathing exercises and enjoy the show. That's what I do.
Mama has been “freecycling” all the things she took out of boxes that she says we don't need. She says we’ve received some nice things from other people on Freecycle, so we should “share the wealth.” From what Mama said while she was unpacking yesterday, I think we're actually “sharing the junk.”
That big sister Sabrina is having trouble sharing today. Mama gave me a fish teething ring this morning. It was just sitting on the counter, not doing anything, but the minute Mama gave it to me Sabrina cried and sobbed and dissolved into a puddle saying she wanted it. Mama said no. Sabrina finally had to go upstairs and lie down for a while until she could calm down enough to come back.
When she came back Mama told her that it was hard to share, and that even big people have trouble with it. She said it was doubly hard because Sabrina was used to being the only kid in the house. Sabrina agreed and then “practiced sharing” for a while. That means she practiced “take-the-toy-away-from-the-baby-and-give-her-something-less-desirable.” Just wait until I can crawl and talk. Then she'll really have to practice her sharing.
Mama has been spending a lot of time with pee today. Sabrina had an accident while she was standing on her SABRINA puzzle stool at the sink this morning. That’s bad. All those puzzle-piece letters and the grooves where the letters go are wood and hard to clean.
One of the cats apparently had an accident, too, on the mat upstairs. I figured by the age of six that everyone was potty trained, but I guess not.
Sabrina had an accident last night, too, in the new playroom. Her clothes were on the washer and Mama says that was stinky too. Mama says this afternoon she’s going to go and search out everything else in this house that smells like pee. I’m pretty sure that’s like searching for the source of the Nile.
Well, that’s all for now. I'm going to go take a nap with my bunnies. Occasionally I might wake up and watch Dr. Livingstone-Mama search for pee. Ha ha!
I hope you feel better soon!
Love,
Linnie Lou

Letter to a Sick Oma, Part I
Dear Oma,
Tante Ingrid tells us you are sick. We are very sorry to hear that. My advice is to drink liquid, wear warm jammies with rabbit feet on them, take tylenol, and sleep on Mama’s shoulder.
Ok, maybe you won't fit on Mama’s shoulder. Try the other ones, though.
But don't sit in any steamy bathrooms. Mama and Daddy did that to me a few days ago on Tante’s advice. It stunk. I was a little steamed dumpling. I was mad, mad, mad.
I have been very fussy all morning. I've been tired but I cry instead of sleeping. I cry whenever I am left alone. Real tears, not just those fake ones Sabrina trots out when Mama says “no” to something. Mama fed me at 6:30 and 9:30, and I slept for about 30 seconds and then woke up. At lunch I ate about 5 bowls of rice cereal. Seriously. Mama says, maybe I was fussy because I was just hungry. Duh!
Mama has been working on the playroom today. She put in shelves and is putting away all our stuff from the garage. While Mama puts things away, Sabrina gets them out. I don't think Mama is very happy about it. She also says we had a lot of “junk.” That’s good, right?
Anyway, I'm about to fall asleep under a pile of stuffed rabbits, so I'll sign off. We hope you feel better soon. Like, before you come to visit us?
Love,
Linnie Lou
